Padgett Museum CLOSED for the Winter!
The Padgett Museum operated by the Floyd County Historical Society, located at 509 West Market Street, New Albany, Indiana,
is closed for the winter.
Re-opening May 14th 2022. Visits until then by appointment.
Masks and Vaccinations are highly recommended.
This is Our Community is given to all third graders in the county and is used to satisfy the Indiana History course requirement for all students in private, parochial, and public schools.
The 2021 version has been distributed to the schools! Editorial and financial support for the 2022 version are welcome.
Diane Stepro will cover some of the highlights of the library's online tour "At Freedom's Gate: African Americans Settling in Clark County" available through IUPUI's Discover Indiana Tours website and phone app.
You'll learn about Clark County's Black heroes, and the region's shameful legacy of lynching and torture.
Photo journalist Larry J. Basham will show and discuss his nine-minute documentary video, Waystation to Freedom.
Filmed in 2019, it is about The Underground Railroad's Town Clock Church, located in New Albany (Floyd County), IN

Dr. Claudia Crump (Professor Emeritus and former Co-Director of the Center for Cultural Resources at Indiana University Southeast)
will present "The Clark Family Moves to the Falls of the Ohio."
