Our Community 2022

This is Our Community is given to all third graders in the county and is used to satisfy the Indiana History course requirement for all students in private, parochial, and public schools.

The 2021 version has been distributed to the schools!  Editorial and financial support for the 2022 version are welcome.

Jeffersonville Township Public Library
"Historical Organizations Fair"

Southern Indiana and Louisville area museums, libraries historical societies, genealogical societies, archaeological organizations, and lineage societies are cordially invited to reserve a booth at the 2022 Jeffersonville Township Public Library Historical Organizations Fair, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in the library's North Program Room and Center Program Room.  Come meet representatives from other area organizations and showcase your organization to the public.
Saturday, September 24th, from 9:30 a.m. until 12 noon   in the Jeffersonville Library Center Program Room.

The library will offer light refreshments and door prizes to encourage the public to attend and learn more about the organizations promoting the area's heritage.

JULY MEETING

Clarence Merk
will present "The fight to save Corydon"
The steamship Alice Dean was commandeered by John Hunt Morgan to move his troops across the Ohio. The steamship then was burned to the water line denying pursuit by Union troops from Kentucky, and cutting off his retreat. Indiana militia and volunteers fought the crossing. Driven back, the defenders and Morgan moved on to Corydon.
Clarence is trying the raise the remains of the Alice Dean.
Thursday, July 7th, 6:30pm   in the Elsa Strassweg Auditorium, of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library
at 180 West Spring Street.

A meet and greet will begin at 6:15 in the auditorium at the New Albany Library.
Refreshments will be served in the Library!
