The Thomas Downs House (1809)
Owned by the Clark's Grant Historical Society, 1045 Main Street, Charlestown, Indiana.
The oldest brick house still standing in Charlestown. ...with 2 front doors ...one side for business. The house was used as the Clark county office until the courthouse was built in 1813. The county seat was in Charlestown at the time. Thomas Downs was President Pro-tem of the Indiana Legislative Council from 1809-1811.

JULY MEETING
David Ross Stevens, sometimes called Southern Indiana's history sculptor,
will present a dozen of his busts and statues and explain the process of sculpting. He will also explain the biographical details of each subject.
Monday, July 15th; 7:00 at the Charlestown Public Library: 51 Clark Road; Charlestown, Indiana.
