Padgett Museum
The Padgett Museum, operated by the Floyd County Historical Society,
located at 509 West Market Street, New Albany, Indiana
Will be open Saturday July 13th from 1-4pm

Our Community 2023

This is Our Community is given to all third graders in the county and is used to satisfy the Indiana History course requirement for all students in private, parochial, and public schools. 

The 2023 version has been delivered to the schools!
Editorial and financial support for the 2024 version are welcome.

Clark's Grant Historical Society
The Thomas Downs House (1809)
Owned by the Clark's Grant Historical Society, 1045 Main Street, Charlestown, Indiana.
The oldest brick house still standing in Charlestown. ...with 2 front doors ...one side for business. The house was used as the Clark county office until the courthouse was built in 1813. The county seat was in Charlestown at the time. Thomas Downs was President Pro-tem of the Indiana Legislative Council from 1809-1811.

JULY MEETING
David Ross Stevens, sometimes called Southern Indiana's history sculptor,
will present a dozen of his busts and statues and explain the process of sculpting.  He will also explain the biographical details of each subject.
Monday, July 15th; 7:00 at the Charlestown Public Library: 51 Clark Road; Charlestown, Indiana.
The meeting is open to the public. REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED.

"Origin Story of the New Albany Croxall Families"
Presented by: Darlene Piell, Friends of Fairview; Floyd County Library Indiana Room staff
James Croxall arrived in New Albany about 1828.  Uncover the story of the New Albany Croxall families, many of whom are buried in Fairview Cemetery.
6:30pm Thursday August 1st in the Elsa Strassweg Auditorium,
of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library at 180 West Spring Street.


A "meet and mingle" will begin at 6:15pm.  Refreshments will be served in the Auditorium!
