May Meeting
Dr. David West Reynolds will present
"Indiana jones meets Star Wars"
Tuesday, May 28th, 6:30pm  at the CARNEGIE CENTER for ART & HISTORY, 201 East Spring Street, New Albany.
Dr. David West Reynolds is a New York Times Best Selling author of many books expanding the lore and inner workings of the Star Wars Universe, including The Star Wars Visual Dictionary and Incredible Cross Sections.  Reynolds' life and career are celebrated in the Cultural Arts Center's new exhibit Star Wars Meets Indiana Jones: The Hero's Journey of Dr. David West Reynolds, cataloging his journey from fan to official creator in the Star Wars universe.

The Padgett Museum, operated by the Floyd County Historical Society,

Our Community 2023

This is Our Community is given to all third graders in the county and is used to satisfy the Indiana History course requirement for all students in private, parochial, and public schools. 

The 2023 version has been delivered to the schools!
Editorial and financial support for the 2024 version are welcome.

The Thomas Downs House (1809)
Owned by the Clark's Grant Historical Society, 1045 Main Street, Charlestown, Indiana.
The oldest brick house still standing in Charlestown. ...with 2 front doors ...one side for business. The house was used as the Clark county office until the courthouse was built in 1813. The county seat was in Charlestown at the time. Thomas Downs was President Pro-tem of the Indiana Legislative Council from 1809-1811.

"Medications and Treatments used during the American Revolution - Then and Now""
Dr. David P. Bell, Retired Pharmacy Officer US Army, member of the Sons of the American Revolution Louisville Thruston Chapter.  The program is a unique blend of his education, experience, and interests.  "Dr. Dave" reviews the state of medical practice in the American Colonies during the late 1770's with the attention to medical agents and treatments that were used during that period, AND are still used and available today.

"The Steamboat Alice Dean"
Presented by: Clarence Merk, President of the Steamboat Alice Dean LLC
The Alice Dean was seized by John Hunt Morgan to ferry his troops into Indiana in 1863.  She was then burned to the waterline to prevent Federal troops from pursuing.  Was she just a luxury packet ship?  The US Navy has recently acknowledged there was more to the story.. 
6:30pm Thursday June 6th in the Elsa Strassweg Auditorium,
of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library at 180 West Spring Street.

A "meet and mingle" will begin at 6:15pm.  Refreshments will be served in the Auditorium!
